ACNE KELOIDALIS                                                                                   

 other names - Acne keloid, sycosis nuchae

Keloidal folliculitis

This is a common condition more seen in black males around 15-25 years of age.  It starts as small papules, which appear on the nape of the neck.  As the problem increases the scars increase in number and size.  Small pustules can also develop.

Treatment

1. No shaving of area should be done.
2. Topical antibiotics.
3. Systemic disorders.
4. Rarely systemic steroids may be used.
5. Skin biopsy may be done with intralesional steroids during and after biopsy.
6. Laser treatments may also be done.
