ACTINIC CHEILITIS

Years of sun exposure in fair skinned individuals without adequate sun protection results in marked damage to the lower lip.  It can lead to cancer of the lip hence it should be treated.

Treatment

1. Liquid nitrogen application can help to treat the abnormal skin leaving healthy regrowing skin.
2. Excision of the area by a biopsy may be carried.  See skin biopsy.
