CHONDRODERMATITIS NODULARIS HELICIS

This is an extremely painful condition of the ear.  It occurs in the ear margins as a solitary painful nodule that prevents the patient from lying down on that side at night.  Special pillows with holes to accommodate the ear have been recommended.  Causes proposed include – pressure, frost bite, sunlight.

 

Treatment

  1. Excision by a skin biopsy has been routinely used.
  2. Liquid nitrogen Cryotherapy
  3. intralesional steroids
