ERYTHEMA ANNULARE CENTRIFUGUM (EAC) EAC is a specific clinical pattern that encompasses various clinical
situations. The causes are many and
are usually unidentifiable. Causes :- Blue cheese Fungal infection of feet (tinea pedis, athlete’s foot) Carcinoma Molluscum contagiosum Epstein barr virus Sarcoidosis Blood disorders Candida infections (yeast) It starts as a small pink papule that slowly enlarges and forms a
circle. The edge of the circle is
usually scaly while the center is dull red in appearance.
The course is unpredictable. Multiple
rings may appear and each lesion may last for days or a few months.
Mostly lesions are seen on buttocks, thighs, arms.
Treatment No treatment is known to alter the course of the problem. Topical steroids may help to relieve symptoms and scaling. If possible the cause may be treated.
