HAIRY
TONGUE This is a discolored area in the back of the tongue.
It does not indicate hair growth! Rather it just indicates over growth of
normal papillae (finger like projections on the tongue) It can be seen after oral antibiotics particularly tetracycline. Treatment Good use of a tooth brush to brush the affected area of tongue twice
daily will help to clear it in a few weeks.
Sometimes tretinoin 0.025% (only if advised by
your doctor) may be applied and removed a few minutes later.
This may be used for 3 – 4 weeks.
