INSECT BITES OR PAPULAR URTICARIA An increased allergic reaction to recurrent insect bites is called
papular urticaria. Commoner in
children and young children and young adults.
The exposed areas are involved. The lesions are reddish
lumps which may have tiny blisters on them.
Children tend to grow out of the problem. Secondary infection causes much pain. Prevention is the key here. Loose
fitting clothes to protect the skin. Anti mosquito repellant creams help in tropical countries. In developed countries it
may require expert entomology teams to identify and isolate the insects. Treatment Topical steroids alone or in combination with antibiotics may be
employed.
