MERKEL CELL CARCINOMA This is a very rare tumor commonly seen on the head and neck.
It occurs mostly in the elderly. It is seen as purplish papules and nodules on the head and neck. Initially thought to be a tumor in the sweat glands, it is established
that it is tumor of a specialized type called Merkel cell.
This helps to transmit touch sensations in the skin. Removing the tumor by a skin biopsy is the best treatment. In addition radiation treatment to the area as with removal of the
