NEURODERMATITIS (Lichen simplex chronicus) This is a localized itchy condition related to eczema.
Seen in accessible areas of the body – nape of neck, hand, calves and
sometimes dorsa of feet. A small raised itchy thickened skin develops which later
results in a impressive thickened area with mild scaling and increased
prominence of skin markings. Any stress thoughts trigger a chain reaction of itch-scratch, so much so
that the patient cannot stop scratching! It is important to break this cycle of itch – scratch by effective
easy treatment. Treatment Strong or super potent topical steroids will be advised by your doctor. Occlusion of the area by plastic film may help in increased absorption. Intralesional steroids may be carried out by your doctor.
