NEVUS OF OTA & ITO

 

There are two conditions in which the melanocytes (pigment producing cells) are placed deep in the skin instead of remaining superficially. 

The nevus of Ota is in the area of the face and involves eye.  It is more common in women.  The nevus of Ito is similar but is seen on the neck.

 

Both present at birth but can appear later.

 

No treatment is needed
