PITYRIASIS LICHENOIDES This has 2 types - the long-term form, or the short lived rash. Acute Pityriasis lichenoides et varioliformis acuta Chronic (long-term) Pityriasis lichenoides chronica The acute form is more severe and also referred to as Mucha Haberman
disease. A sudden crop of reddish
papules appear that become necrotic (blackish in the center) and resolve in a
few weeks with not much scar formation. Sometimes
punched out scars appear. After
this episode settles another episode starts and the whole process may extend
over years. Treatment Topical steroids help but photo therapy may be required to control the
disease. Chronic Pityriasis lichenoides chronica This is seen as small brown reddish papules on the trunk and extremities
and resolve in 3-6 weeks with only discoloration remaining. Treatment Topical steroids help the
