SEBORRHEIC
WART (SEBORRHEIC KERATOSIS) Other
names, middle aged warts!! This
is a very common harmless growth usually seen in face, scalp and trunk.
It looks like a brain, black warty plaque appeared to be “stuck on”
the skin. It starts as a brownish
spot and slowly increases in size. There
is no pain or itching usually. Occasionally
it may get caught on clothes or while using a towel and get irritated. Treatment Usually
no treatment is required and only if it is an area that catches frequently on
clothes – bra straps or on the face it needs to be treated. Liquid nitrogen application by your doctor is the easiest treatment. After this a blister appears and the lesion settles down in a week or two. Sometimes
your doctor may remove it by destructive treatments like curettage
and cauterization or may excise it by a skin
biopsy.
