Tufted hair folliculitis This is a pattern of hair loss that is formed by scars. Several hairs 10 – 20 emerge from one single opening. The adjacent skin appears smooth shiny and scarred. The clinical pattern is referred to as “dolls hair” appearance. It is thought that the scars force multiple hairs into a single opening. Bacteria can be isolated by culture but their significance is unknown. Treatment
